About "noble" in BIP39
- "noble" has 5 letters, but the first three, "nob", already identify it, because "no" also begins 12 other words, among them noise, nominee, noodle and normal. Three letters are enough for only 604 of the 2048 words.
- The same spelling is in the French BIP39 wordlist, but as word #1323 (index 1322), not #1198. A wallet set to French reads "noble" as 10100101010 instead of 10010101101, and decodes index 1197 as "manteau".
- "nobl" is unique only within the English list: it also begins nobleza in the Spanish list, so a four-letter backup should say which list it uses.
