A TON seed phrase (or recovery phrase) consists of 24 English words used to restore access to a wallet. The idea and the 2048-word English list come from BIP-39, but TON derives keys and checks phrases in its own way, so a TON phrase is not interchangeable with a BIP-39 phrase from a Bitcoin or Ethereum wallet. In case of loss of access to your device or wallet, the seed phrase allows you to regain access to your assets.
Seed phrases are designed for cryptocurrency wallets as they provide a high level of security and decentralization. Regular bank or digital wallets typically use centralized password recovery methods, such as email or phone number, which are not suitable for decentralized blockchain systems where the user is the sole owner of their keys and assets. In regular wallets, a central authority can restore account access, while in cryptocurrency wallets this is impossible without the seed phrase.
TON (The Open Network) offers several popular wallets that support the use of seed phrases for creating and restoring wallets. Among them:
Tonkeeper is a popular mobile wallet for storing and managing Toncoin, tokens, and NFTs. The app makes it easy to create a new wallet or import an existing one using a seed phrase.

Tonhub is another convenient app for managing assets on the TON blockchain. Tonhub supports creating new wallets and importing existing ones using seed phrases.

MyTonWallet is a web wallet for managing assets on the TON blockchain. It supports creating and restoring wallets using a seed phrase.

A TON phrase uses words from the same English list, but a sequence of 24 list words only works as a TON wallet if it passes TON's own validity check. Words outside the list ("strawberry", "xylophone") never work.
To see the real format, create a wallet in a TON wallet app such as Tonkeeper or Wallet in Telegram: it shows the 24 words during setup. Never use a phrase you have seen published anywhere.
To create a new wallet in Tonkeeper, Tonhub, or MyTonWallet, follow these steps:
Download and install the app or open the website of the desired wallet.
Create a new wallet by following the instructions in the app or on the website.
Write down the generated 24-word seed phrase on paper and store it in a safe place.
Use the seed phrase to restore the wallet if necessary, following the app or website instructions.
Seed phrases are the foundation of security for cryptocurrency wallets, including wallets for TON. Use trusted wallets like Tonkeeper, Tonhub, and MyTonWallet to manage your assets on the TON blockchain.
